Ex Ordo and SPIE Launch Initiative to Streamline SPIE’s Conference Partner Program Workflow

May 26, 2025 – Galway, Ireland & Bellingham, WA, USA — Ex Ordo, a leading provider of conference management software, and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, are pleased to announce a new strategic partnership designed to enhance the experience of conference organisers and streamline the publishing process for SPIE’s conference partner program.

SPIE’s conference partner program offers optics and photonics conferences not managed directly by SPIE the opportunity to publish their conference proceedings in the SPIE Digital Library, thus expanding the conference’s reach and impact.

This collaboration will offer conferences publishing their proceedings with SPIE, the opportunity to manage their entire conference lifecycle using Ex Ordo’s powerful platform. From abstract submission to peer review, registration, and proceedings delivery, the integration between Ex Ordo and SPIE will automate workflows and reduce the administrative burden for organisers, while ensuring seamless delivery of high-quality content for publication in the SPIE Digital Library.

“SPIE plays a critical role in advancing research and innovation in optics and photonics,” said Paul Killoran, Founder & CEO of Ex Ordo. “We’re proud to partner with such a respected organisation to help make it easier for conference organisers to manage their events and deliver polished, publication-ready content. This partnership aligns with our mission to streamline the experience of organising technical conferences.”

The integration between Ex Ordo and SPIE ensures that conference organisers will benefit from SPIE’s high standards in publishing alongside Ex Ordo’s easy-to-use platform, creating a more efficient and consistent experience for authors, reviewers, and chairs alike.

“This partnership allows us to offer improved services to our conference partners, enabling a streamlined process from conference management through to publication,” said Patrick Franzen, Senior Director of Publications at SPIE. “We’re excited to work with Ex Ordo on a unified solution that simplifies the journey from presentation to abstract collection to final publication.”

The partnership is expected to launch this summer, and conferences that partner with SPIE and publish their proceedings in the SPIE Digital Library will soon have the opportunity to take advantage of Ex Ordo’s integrated platform.
