Oxford Abstracts suits academic events that want a published price per event, a free plan, or a straightforward way to collect and review abstracts. Ex Ordo is the better fit when peer review is demanding or the conference has to work with the rest of your organisation: reviewer allocation with workload limits and automatic conflict checks, panels in the core review product, single sign-on with your membership system, member pricing, and invoice and bank transfer payments. For a call for papers with over 125 submissions and a volunteer reviewer pool, Ex Ordo gives you more control over who reviews what. Oxford Abstracts covers the core steps well, and its pages describe a simpler assignment model. In Ex Ordo's [peer review software](https://www.exordo.com/product/peer-review-software), you set how many reviews each submission needs and how many submissions each reviewer gets. The allocation engine then matches submissions to the best-qualified reviewers. You can test and rerun the allocation until it is right. Conflicts of interest are checked at the point of allocation, as our [abstract management software](https://www.exordo.com/abstract-management-software) page explains, so chairs do not cross-check author lists by hand. Review can be single-anonymous or double-anonymous. Reviewers grade with scores, comments, or both, online or offline, and get prompts for outstanding tasks. You track progress, send reminders to anyone falling behind, and reassign, close, or disable reviews. Chairs then filter by score, accept or reject from a dropdown, and send letters from the dashboard. Oxford Abstracts' pages describe bulk assignment by categories and groups, reviewer progress tracking, scheduled reminder emails, and auto-save for reviewers. They do not describe reviewer load limits or testing an allocation before it runs. The International Pragmatics Association handled 767 submissions and 1,081 peer reviews in Ex Ordo. On Oxford Abstracts, symposium and multi-stage submissions are add-ons sold on top of a plan. In Ex Ordo, panel organisers submit themed sessions, reviewers see them as clusters or score individual submissions within them, and you accept or decline a panel in one click. Accepted panels become sessions in your programme, and the conflict checker flags presenters booked in two places at once.
